There’s something magical about winter in The Palm Beaches – mild sunshine, ocean breezes, and a laid-back atmosphere that makes it the perfect seasonal escape. From historic mansions to peaceful gardens and chic shopping, these are my go-to activities for a perfect mix of culture, beach, and shopping.
1| Step Back in Time at the Flagler Museum

One of the most atmospheric stops: this grand Gilded-Age mansion (called Whitehall when built) turns into a museum telling the story of industrialist Henry Morrison Flagler and early luxury resort Palm Beach. Strolling through gilded rooms, ornate architecture, and then stepping out into the gardens gives you a lovely contrast of indoor elegance and outdoor serenity.
Tips: Aim for the morning when it’s quieter. Dress comfortably for walking the grounds.

2| Visit (or Stay at) the Iconic The Breakers

Whether you stay overnight or simply pop in for dinner or a stroll, The Breakers is the epitome of Palm Beach luxury-by-the-sea. The architecture, the ocean-front setting, and the historic vibe anchors that “Palm Beach” fantasy.

This is the perfect stop for art-lovers. The Norton Museum has a strong collection of European, American and Chinese art, and a nice outdoor sculpture garden. Indoor museum time is a nice break from beach/walk activities; plus the sculpture garden gives you that Florida outdoor ambience without needing to be in full sun.
Tip: Check their website for special exhibitions – there’s always something fresh. On Fridays look for “Art After Dark” evening events.

4| Spend the Evening at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts

Watching a show at the Kravis Center changes the pace of your trip – after beaches and shopping you get a chance to enjoy a more formal outing. The venue often hosts popular orchestra concerts, Broadway shows like Wicked, Holiday classics like The Nutcracker, and even Cirque du Soleil!
Tip: Dress smart-casual or more elevated for the evening, according to the specific event, and arrive early to settle in; lobby bars often open before shows.
5| Ice-Skate at The Ben’s Winter Wonderland

7| Unwind by the Beach

Winter in South Florida means beautiful beach days without blazing heat. Whether you pick the Atlantic-side shoreline of Palm Beach, the island escape of Peanut Island, or the scenic and slightly quieter Juno Beach, you’re in for a treat. Palm Beach is full of soft sand, ocean breeze, and it’s great for relaxing midday. Alternatively, venture to Peanut Island for a more adventurous water day. Choose Juno Beach for a mix of beach, pier, and nature.
Tip: Bring sunscreen, hat, and a light cover-up; even in winter the sun is strong. Consider arriving early for best beach space.
8| Take a Sunset Cruise on the Intracoastal

To conclude a day (or treat yourself one evening), take a boat tour or sunset cruise on the intracoastal waterway in West Palm. The golden light, water reflections and skyline views are hard to beat. It adds “romantic/relaxing” time to your schedule, perfect after a busy day of exploring.
Tip: Consider a smaller charter if you want a more private experience. Book in advance for winter evenings (they can fill up).
9| Shop on Worth Avenue & CityPlace

Worth Avenue also has some of the most elevated dining in the area. Restaurants like Le Bilboquet, Renato’s, Buccan, and Cafe L’Europe can be found within the avenue or just walking distance from it.
- CityPlace: more relaxed, walkable outdoor mall in West Palm — good for mixing shopping & dining. CitiPlace is rapidly growing with openings every year for a more diverse visitor experience.
Tip: One gives you the glam Palm Beach experience (Worth), the other a more casual but still stylish shopping + dining stop (CityPlace).
10| Treasure-Hunt on Antique Row

For a more offbeat shopping experience, Antique Row is a treasure trove of vintage and design finds. You’ll find more unique keepsakes rather than the usual big-brand stores.
Tip: Give yourself time to wander slowly — you never know what gem you’ll discover. Also check opening days/hours (many smaller shops have limited hours).
